Why is the title of movie I not Stupid?
Actually that the storyline of the film is around the lived and families of three students of EM3 academic steam. The education system promotes academic elitism, with students in lower steams looked down upon as inferior making it harder form them to catch up and realize their potential, even if they are not necessary stupid. For example the character of Kok Pin is driven to excel at school by his mother but he shows a talent for art not academic.

In what ways do adults in that movie fail to understand children?
The second question is answer by performing of Terry’s mother character Mrs Khoo. She tries to be a good and responsible mother who knows best her children need but strip her children from their freedom. She told her children a thousand time by repeated line “Do you know how lucky you are to have a good and responsible mother” and the second line is “This is all for your own good”.

What lessons have you learn from that movie?
“I not stupid” is good movie. Many social issue rise in the story such as:
The steaming in the education system which academic become the best value then art, How we survive in our social life, How we trait of obedience and respect for authority and also Chinese self loathing, where companies regard western expatriates as inherently superior to local workers and the differences between English and Chinese.

Comment of Laskar Pelangi:

I like this novel and the film, it is about an inspiring teacher and her 10 students in the poverty-stricken Kampung Gantong in Belitong. The poor condition of their school building does not dampen their high spirits and hopes for a better future.
They struggle to overcome all obstacles with a smile. This novel and the film are a great reading and great watching for those who searching the meaning of life itself and to encourage hopeless people.
There are many aspects that could be reflecting such as educational, social and political issues. It is also important because it has an inspiring effect of hope and not giving up, while living a very hard life
While the film is not detail enough then the novel but the scriptwriter could explain the value visually. The Twelve children who played the character has a deeper connection to the roles than those who were born and lived in Belitong their entire life
Each actrees and actor has a strong character for example the central character, Bu Muslimah; the teacher of Laskar Pelangi, she could describe as a loving, tender, patient and smart fighter or the character of Lintang; Ikal’s classmate, he left school because of his family but his dream still alive till his daughter grow up.
Both, film and the novel have a multidimensional influence. It could changes point of view, behavior, situation and society. There are many children has no opportunity to take a good education.

How the teacher is Dead Poet’s Society different from most teachers you know?
Not only Welton Academy performed a school which is based on four principles: Tradition, Honor, Discipline, and Excellence, each of the teachers tries to make the students “on the track”
Dead Poets Society teachers introduce an overwhelming curriculum. The new English teacher John Keating told his students; if they dare enough, they can call him ‘O captain, my captain” he gave another perspective in teachers-students relationship.

What is the teacher trying to achieve in this class?
What he does is quite simple, by asking his students to stand on his desk as reminder to look at the world from different way. John Keating focus on the idea of “Corpe Diem” seize the day in English. Take the chance no matter what anybody tells words and idea can change the world.

How have the students transformed themselves in the process of learning?
The boys secretly revive an old literary club where John Keating had been a member; Dead Poets Society. One of the boys name Todd experiences a particular transformation when out of a severe episode of self consciousness, he fails to complete a creative writing assignment and subsequently taken through an exercise of uncharacteristic self expression, realize the creative potential he truly process. The other boys, Charlie publish his personal freedom article in the school flyer that purpose girls are allowed at Welton.
